20/09/2011 – Entre sus actividades para promocionar el ajedrez como asignatura en los colegios y la Fundación de Ajedrez Kasparov ("Kasparov Chess Foundation"), el pasado fin de semana el ajedrecista ruso jugó una exhibición de partidas rápidas en Clichy (Francia) contra el actual Campeón de Francia, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, que previamente había conseguido el derecho a enfrentarse con Kasparov en un duelo contra su antecesor en el trono de Francia, Laurent Fressinet. Kasparov triunfa en Clichy
Dentro del marco de sus actividades para promocionar el ajedrez como asignatura en los colegios y la Fundación de Ajedrez Kasparov ("Kasparov Chess Foundation"), el pasado fin de semana, Garry Kasparov dio una exhibición de partidas rápidas en Clichy (Francia).

Vachier-Lagrave tuvo que ganarse el derecho a enfrentarse con Kasparov en un duelo previo contra el Campeón de Francia del año pasado, Laurent Fressinet. Los dos franceses se enfrentaron en un duelo
con las mismas condiciones que el ganador iba a tener en su duelo contra Kasparov, más adelante: dos partidas de 5 minutos, más 3 segundos de incremento por movimiento, seguido por una partida a todo o nada en el caso de empate. Ambas partidas de Fressinet y Vachier-Lagrave terminaron en tablas y este último ganó la partida de desempate.

Los dos campeones franceses luchando por el derecho a enfrentarse con Garry Kasparov
Vachier-Lagrave, al ser un jugador ultraactivo con un rendimiento de más de 2700,
se podía suponer que tendría ventaja una vez con el motor caliente. Pero el ex campeón del
mundo Kasparov hizo como si nunca se hubiese retirado del ajedrez profesional y ganó la primera partida volado, dejando a sus seguidores con muy buen sabor de boca y ganas de ver más momentos así.
Después de que Kasparov hubiese ganado el duelo, ambos jugadores formaron
pareja con personajes famosos: Vachier-Lagrave formó equipo con Laurent Baumel, el alcalde de Ballan-Miré y Kasparov jugó con Anthony Delon, el hijo de la leyenda de cine Alain Delon. En este encuentro amistoso, el Campeón de Francia
y el alcalde se llevaron los laureles.
