Anis Giri e Hikaru Nakamura también plantearon una tensa batalla, pero finalmente empataron. El francés Etienne Bacrot tuvo una apertura de doble filo contra Morozevich con tres peones de desventaja, pero el excesivo optimismo de Morozevich justamente fue lo que finalmente le pasó factura y Bacrot se apuntó una bonita victoria sobre el ruso. Biel 2012
Del 22 al 29 de julio en Biel (Suiza)
El XLV Festival Internacional de Ajedrez de Biel está desarrollándose entre el 23 de julio y el 2 de agosto de 2012, con diversas actividades: Torneo Magistral (suizo, 11 rondas); Torneo Principal (suizo, 9 rondas); un torneo de partidas rápidas y otro de ajedrez relámpago, ajedrez 960, juvenil, simultáneas, tenis-ajedrez, seminarios de entrenamiento de ChessBase... El mayor interés lo acapara el Torneo Magistral Accentus, que se disputa es una competición por sistema suizo a 11 rondas. En dicho torneo compiten el defensor del título en Biel, Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Alexander Morozevich, Wang Hao, Etienne Bacrot y Anish Giri.

El ritmo de juego es de 40 movimientos en 100 minutos, a continuación 20 movimientos en 50 minutos, seguido por 15 minutos para el resto de la partida, con un incremento de 30 segundos por movimiento. Se aplica el sistema de puntuación de 3 (victoria) - 1 (tablas) - 0 (derrota). No se permiten las ofertas de tablas antes del movimiento 30.
