El caballo negro

Inspirada en una historia real, llega al corazón y tiene gran intensidad emocional. Aborda las luchas y errores, los triunfos y éxitos del neozelandés Genesis Potini.
Argumento
Cuando se reaviva el amor por el ajedrez de Potini (interpretado por el galardonado Cliff Curtis) busca a Noble (Kirk Torrance) para alimentar su necesidad. Su fresca y recién surgida pasión por el rey de los juegos le brinda la tan necesaria estabilidad y propósito vital, a la vez que se ve retado constantemente por una enfermedad mental.
Mediante el ajedrez, Potini encuentra una nueva familia en la que concentrarse. Su comodidad emocional no dura mucho ya que se ve inmerso en mitad de las luchas emocionales de la familia de su sobrino Mana (James Rollestone), que empujado a un mundo de gangsters y ladrones, busca refugio en su tío.
All mismo tiempo, Genesis intenta cumplir su promesa de dirigir a un puñado de niños inadaptados a su primer torneo.
Aunque algunos aspectos de la historia son ficción, el director James Napier Robertson ha mantenido la esencia de la película fiel al espíritu de Genesis Potini y elimpacto que tuvo en los niños por medio del ajedrez. La cinta transporta al público por extremos emocionales en forma de vistazo metafórico a lo que una persona con transtorno bipolar puede experimentar.

Genesis Potini tuvo un destacado impacto entodos los que le rodeaban por medio del ajedrez y su legado fue tan grande que merecía una película que contase la historia. Con ese pensamiento, tuve que investigar más sobre Potini y como resultado me puse en contacto con Noble Keelan, por medio del presidente de Gisborne Eastern Knights, Colin Albert. Resultó que Keelan fue la mano derecha de Potini.
