Carlsen ha tomado el mando en solitario con 5 puntos (combinando los resultados en las partidas clásicas y en las partidas a todo o nada, disputadas tras tres rondas). Levon Aronian se impuso con negras a Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. Ding Liren obtuvo una victoria energética frente a Fabiano Caruana y Wesley So triunfó frente a Yu Yangyi.
