La experiencia y la paciencia parecen ser los factores dominantes en este desafío de pesos pesados, ya que Nepomniachtchi, que había ganado las dos ediciones anteriores, empezó bien con 3,5/5 y tras cinco rondas comparte el liderato con Gukesh.
