23/06/2017 – En la última edición del programa "Rincón del Ajedrez", Manuel Azuaga y Roberto López rindieron un homenaje radiofónico a una figura que inició, como nadie antes lo había hecho, la actual teoría del ajedrez, sobre todo gracias a la publicación, en 1561, de su obra "Libro de la invención liberal y arte del juego del ajedrez, muy útil y provechosa para los que de nuevo quisieren aprender a jugarlo, como para los que ya lo saben jugar". Beneficiado por el desarrollo de la imprenta, este tratado fue traducido al italiano (1584), al francés (1609, 1636, 1674), al portugués, al inglés y al alemán (1616, 1647, 1722, 1749). Podemos hablar de todo un "best seller". La verdad es que tiene una historia increíble, incluso fue profesor de ajedrez del rey Felipe II.

Ruy López de Segura, el clérigo que enseñó ajedrez a Felipe II

El Rincón del Ajedrez repasa la vida y obra de Rodrigo López de Segura (1540 - 1580), más conocido como Ruy López, quien es considerado el primer campeón mundial oficioso de la historia del ajedrez.

Los aficionados al juego-ciencia conocen bien su aportación a la teoría, toda vez que López de Segura da nombre a la apertura española o “apertura Ruy López“, quizás la más popular y jugada de la historia. Pero pocos saben el alcance real de su legado. Además, para ser rigurosos y justos con la historia, debemos aclarar que no fue Ruy López quien inventó esta apertura, línea de la que se tiene constancia en el antiguo manuscrito de Gotinga.

Pons-Brooks recently captured the attention of astronomers after exhibiting intriguing behavior that caused the comet to have a horned appearance and soar through our solar system.
The comet has experienced a number of outbursts during the past eight months, causing it to eject gas and dust. While such releases are not uncommon in comets and a crescent or Pac-Man shape has been observed in other ones, it’s difficult to tell what is normal for Pons-Brooks.

“I would say it’s somewhat unusual in the number of outbursts it’s been having,” Schleicher said. “On the other hand, it’s not like you have good records from the past to really let you know what is typical. And I suspect given the fairly large number of outbursts that have happened over the last eight months, that this is very clearly a usual occurrence for Pons-Brooks.”

Comets are chunks of dust, rock and ice, essentially frozen remnants from the formation of the solar system. They also contain frozen elements such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.

Comets heat up and brighten as they approach the sun, and some of the frozen gases stored in comets don’t need to warm up much before they begin to turn into vapor, Schleicher said.
