Wesley So y Jan-Krzysztof Duda siguen encabeza de la clasificación del torneo Superbet 2023 de ajedrez rápido y relámpago tras una segunda jornada muy reñida en la que empataron 12 de un total de 15 partidas. A falta de tres partidas para el final de la fase de rápidas, Wesley So y Jan-Krzysztof Duda son los dos primeros con 9,0/12 puntos ambos, respectivamente mientras que Levon Aronian está en el tercer puesto con 8,0/12 puntos. Mientras tanto, a un como parece "algo oxidado" Carlsen le fue ligeramente mejor en la acción de hoy, firmando tablas en las tres partidas pero, pero por lo menos sin perder.
El control de tiempo para la parte rápida es de 25+10, con 2 puntos por victoria, 1 punto por tablas y 0 por derrota. La manga de ajedrez relámpago se disputará con un control de tiempo de 3+2, utilizando el típico sistema de puntuación de 1,1/2,0 (el miércoles).
Sorprendentemente, las cinco partidas de la primera ronda del día concluyeron en tablas, con Carlsen presionando a MVL hasta el final en un final de dos caballos contra peones, pero sin llegar a ganar.
Tal vez la partida más alocada del día fue la que enfrentó a Rapport y Duda, en la que surgieron complicaciones en una partida vienesa que acabó en jaque perpetuo.
La quinta ronda fue la única con partidas decisivas, ya que primero Duda se aprovechó de un error de Wojtaszek al final del medio juego que le permitió pasar a un final de dama ganador.
Deac se apuntó su primera victoria, aprovechando un grave error cometido por Anish Giri. Ganó un peón durante el final de la partida y ganó.
Mientras tanto, Magnus Carlsen se enfrentó a una Siciliana con c3 planteada por Levon Aronian y ejecutó un interesante sacrificio posicional, dejándole con dos peones y un alfil sin oposición para la torre. Pero a medida que se intercambiaban las piezas, ninguno de los dos bandos pudo avanzar mucho y al final se produjo una repetición.
En la última ronda del segundo día de partidas rápidas de tres jornadas en total, de nuevo todas las partidas terminaron en tablas, ya que en la batalla de los líderes Wesley So desaprovechó una gran oportunidad contra Duda que le habría dado una clara ventaja, permitiendo en su lugar un perpetuo.
Aún sin ganar, Magnus Carlsen comenzó la partida con 1.b3 contra Anish Giri y durante el mediojuego buscó otro sacrificio posicional. Pero se dejó escapar la única oportunidad de conseguir una clara ventaja (34.d5), lo que permitió a Giri aguantar al defenderse con mucha precisión.
