El descanso sólo fue parcial, tras el multitudinario torneo de Blitz “Memorial Eduardo Saguier” del viernes, el sábado, en el Club Centenario, el Gran Maestro Oscar Panno ofreció una clase magistral, seguida de una charla-coloquio, que deleitó a los asistentes por las instructivas apreciaciones de Panno, mechadas con gotas de fino humor. La tercera ronda se disputó ayer, domingo 23 de mayo. El GM boliviano Oswaldo Zambrana y el MI argentino Nahuel Díaz lideran el grupo A con 2½ puntos. En la segunda ronda, el

Después del día de descanso del sábado, se reanudó el III Magistral Ciudad de Asunción, “Copa Roggio”, de Categoría XI. El descanso sólo fue parcial, tras el multitudinario torneo de Blitz “Memorial Eduardo Saguier” del viernes, el sábado, en el Club Centenario, el Gran Maestro Oscar Panno ofreció una clase magistral, seguida de una charla-coloquio, que deleitó a los asistentes por las instructivas apreciaciones de Panno, mechadas con gotas de fino humor. La tercera ronda se disputó hoy domingo 23 de mayo en los salones de La Pérgola Jardín Restaurant de Asunción, Paraguay; el certamen es el más fuerte de Sudamérica en lo que va del año. El GM boliviano Oswaldo Zambrana y el MI argentino Nahuel Díaz lideran el grupo A con 2½ puntos.
La partida Zambrana vs. Rodríguez fue una Defensa Caro Kann; tomó inicialmente el mismo camino que la histórica partida Deep Blue vs. Kasparov, que culminó con una fulminante victoria de la máquina y que le dio la victoria en el match de Nueva York 1997. Si bien Zambrana sólo tenía un peón por la pieza sacrificada, la mala situación del rey negro le dio suficiente compensación; tras un equivocado cambio que abrió la columna d, Zambrana entregó posteriormente también su dama, y obtuvo una victoria inapelable.
Tres de las otras partidas fueron aperturas catalanas, Bachmann superó a Delgado en el juego de maniobras, combinó una molesta presión sobre ambos flancos y obtuvo un fuerte peón pasado en d6 que paralizó el juego negro, logrando una clara victoria.
Mareco y Kropff fue tablas, las negras eligieron una línea que juega el propio Mareco, quien no supo sacar ventaja ante su defensa favorita; cuando existía la posibilidad de entrar en una línea caótica ambos maestros prefirieron jugar seguro.
En Díaz vs. Cubas las negras quedaron con una estructura peor, pero solventaron sus problemas y rechazaron el empate por repetición de jugadas, pero no pudieron justificar su ambición y Díaz se alzó con el triunfo.
Morovic jugó la Apertura Reti ante Rozentalis y obtuvo superioridad en el final, gracias a su pareja de alfiles, y juego más armónico, pero no continuó con precisión y fue tablas.
