En las últimas dos rondas el equipo alemán luchó para hacerse con el triunfo, pero a pesar de sus victorias frente a Eslovaquia y Austria, los eslovenos no pincharon y los anfitriones tuvieron que conformarse con el segundo puesto, por delante de Hungría y Suiza.
