22/11/2021 – Entre el 17 y el 21 de noviembre de 2021, se disputó el torneo Tata Steel Chess India en Calcuta. Se coronó campeón Levon Aronian tras derrotar a Arjun Erigaisi en la partida "a todo o nada" en el duelo de desempate del torneo de ajedrez relámpago. El marcador final quedó en 11½/18. Previamente, Arjun Erigaisi había ganado el torneo de ajedrez rápido. El torneo de ajedrez rápido se disputó como torneo cerrado con 10 jugadores, por sistema de liga. Los días de juego serán el 17, 18 y 19 de noviembre. el ritmo de juego será de 25 minutos por partida, más 10 segundos de incremento por movimiento, con tres rondas por jornada.
El torneo de ajedrez relámpago igualmente se disputó como torneo cerrado por sistema de liga, a doble vuelta, con 9 rondas por jornada. El control de tiempo era de 3 minutos, con un incremento de 2 segundos por movimiento.
