Tras la primera repetición de jugadas, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave optó por 25.g4! lo cual plantea nuevas amenazas contra el rey negro. Deac, con sangre fría, respondió con 25...b3!.

Curiosamente, esa misma variante volvió a surgir en otra partida magistral disputada entre los grandes maestros Ter Sahakian y Sevian en un torneo por sistema de liga, en Armenia. Así que también haremos hicapié a esta partida porque nos sirve para completar los conocimientos acerca de esta variante tan peculiar (9.Cbd2 y 12.exf6), en la Ruy López abierta.
