18/04/2017 – Entre el 8 y el 15 de abril se disputó el XLVIII Abierto Internacional "Ciudad de Mar del Plata". Axel Bachmann se coronó vencedor con 8,5 puntos en 9 rondas. Es la segunda vez que gana la prueba un jugador paraguayo, el primero fue José Cubas en 2005. Segundo quedó Andrés Rodríguez (Uruguay) y el maestro internacional Julio Benedetti (Argentina) ocupó el tercer puesto.
