Frits Agterdenbos fue uno de los fotógrafos más de ajedrez durante los años ochenta. Entre los años 1979 - 1991 sus fotos se publicaban en varias revistas especializadas, entre ellas, New in Chess, Schakend Nederland, Inside Chess, BCM, Chess, Europe Echecs y Schach. En 1984 se publicó su libro holandés “64 Schaakportretten” (en castellano “64 Retratos de Ajedrez”). En 1991 “se jubiló” como fotógrafo de ajedrez para terminar sus estudios y en 1997 recibió el diploma de matemático de seguros. Desde el año 1998 ha trabajado como "su propio jefe" en su compañía de consultas, "Acturix”.
31/10/2014 – Tras la octava ronda, estaba claro que Friso Nijboer se iba a llevar la victoria del torneo principal. En la última ronda empató con Jan-Willem de Jong y sumó 6,5/9 puntos.
