Ronda 6. Sestao y Solvay, empatados ante la última ronda
El presidente del Mágic, Juan Antonio Montero, había anunciado el día anterior que, una vez alejado el fantasma del descenso, su equipo jugaría relajado y con muchas ganas las dos últimas rondas. Tras tumbar al líder, explicó los argumentos de su optimismo: “Aunque hasta hoy sólo habíamos ganado un encuentro [al Atocha por 5-1], en ninguno hemos logrado menos de 2,5 puntos, lo que indica que somos un conjunto sólido. Sobre todo, en los dos últimos tableros, donde Jaime Santos y Emilio Moreno están entre los jugadores más destacados del torneo”.
En efecto, esos dos jóvenes en momento dulce hicieron tablas frente a rivales superiores en teoría y mucho más experimentados, Santos con Ubilava, y Moreno con De la Villa. Lo mismo ocurrió con Candelario, Svétushkin y Sargissián frente a Gánguly, Negi y Nisipeanu, respectivamente. Todo dependía entonces de un diabólico final de torres entre Antípov y Délchev; éste es uno de los principales valores del Solvay (mejor cuarto tablero hasta ayer, con 4 puntos de 5 partidas) pero sus peones eran menos peligrosos que los rivales.
López vs. Ubilava
El ambiente era de tensión extrema, porque si el encuentro terminaba 3-3, el Solvay tendría el título casi asegurado. Entonces ocurrió un curioso incidente, motivado por los sonidos guturales que Antípov emite cuando juega, probablemente de forma involuntaria, aunque nadie dice saber si el origen es nervioso, asmático o de otro tipo. A pesar de que Délchev tenía tapones en los oídos, su delegado, Jesús Quevedo, presentó una reclamación oral ante el árbitro principal, Juan Vargas, alegando que Antípov molestaba a Délchev. Vargas pidió al ruso que cesaran los ruidos; éste lo consiguió y también logró el punto que convertía a su equipo en aspirante a la cuarta plaza, que puede clasificar para la Copa de Europa de 2014, ya que está a sólo un punto de Equigoma, Enracha-SC Colón de Sabadell y Gros Xake Taldea; estos dos equipos empataron el duelo entre ellos, con una nueva derrota de Vallejo, ante Naiditsch, y una victoria muy brillante de Magem sobre Van Wely.
Nisipeanu vs. Sargissian
David Antón volvió a ser el último jugador en salir del auditorio El Pósito, tras otra sesión de seis horas, para hacer tablas con Spraggett. El joven madrileño es la principal baza de su equipo (frente a Nisipeanu) para mitigar hoy la previsible goleada ante el Solvay, si no acusa sus luchas maratonianas. Sobre el papel, los otros cinco jugadores del equipo cántabro son muy superiores a los del Atocha, y lo mismo ocurre con los del Sestao respecto al Escola d’Escacs. Todo ello augura una inolvidable mañana sabatina.
De las cinco españolas en el torneo femenino Ciudad de Linares, sólo Yudania Hernández tiene motivos de satisfacción: tras ganar ayer a Amalia Aranaz, ha subido 13 puntos de Elo, lo que puede ser importante para ganarse un puesto en la selección española que disputará el Europeo de Varsovia, en noviembre; sin embargo, afrontará un duro compromiso en la última ronda frente a la georgiana Sopiko Guramishvili, quien comparte el liderato con la rusa Anastasia Savina.
