La entrevista realizada por Federico Madeo al Maestro FIDE Marcelo Ibar ofrece una mirada retrospectiva sobre la trayectoria ajedrecística de un jugador argentino que vivió de cerca algunos de los momentos más destacados del ajedrez internacional. El video —número 112 en el canal de Madeo— repasa los inicios de Ibar, sus primeras influencias y la admiración que sentía por los jugadores soviéticos, referentes indiscutidos de su generación.
Madeo invita a Ibar a recordar encuentros memorables frente a grandes maestros como Oscar Panno, Héctor Sanguinetti y el subcampeón mundial Viktor Korchnoi, entre otros nombres relevantes. A lo largo de la conversación, Ibar también menciona sus experiencias en torneos internacionales y las relaciones que fue construyendo en el mundo del ajedrez, incluido su vínculo con figuras como Zenón Franco y su amistad con Daniel Cámpora.
La entrevista permite contextualizar la figura de Marcelo Ibar más allá del tablero. Ingeniero Electrónico de formación y posteriormente especialista en Relaciones y Negociaciones Internacionales, Ibar dedicó las décadas de 1980 y 1990 a estudiar meticulosamente el ajedrez, hasta alcanzar en 1997 el título de Maestro FIDE. Con el tiempo, su carrera profesional y su vida familiar tomaron protagonismo, desplazando el ajedrez hacia un lugar más recreativo.
En la conversación con Madeo, los episodios relatados sirven para ilustrar el recorrido singular de un aficionado apasionado que llegó a competir de igual a igual con algunas de las figuras más fuertes de su época.
