En sus mejores momentos se le consideraba invencible y es considerado por muchos como el más grande talento ajedrecístico de todos los tiempos: José Raúl Capablanca nació en 1888 en La Habana. A los 13 años llegó a Campeón de Cuba; en 1909 derrotó extraordinariamente a Marshall por 8:1 y de esa manera fue catapultado a la elite mundial. Hubo de transcurrir algún tiempo, ya que solo cruzaba el Charco limitada cantidad de información, hasta que en 1911 Capablanca logró un bien merecido reconocimiento dejando a la elite tras su estela en San Sebastián. Sin embargo pasarían 10 años hasta que el cubano derrotase al entonces vigente campeón mundial Emanuel Lasker en un duelo, para ceñirse la corona.
En este DVD de ChessBase un equipo de expertos llega hasta el fondo del juego de Capablanca. Niklas Huschenbeth presenta las aperturas del tercer campeón mundial. Oliver Reeh ha recopilado una selección de pequeñas combinaciones (las famosas “petite combinaison” de Capablanca) y las ha preparado en formato interactivo. Mihail Marin examina en las actuaciones estratégicas de Capablanca y encuentra sorprendentes paralelismos en partidas de Bobby Fischer.
