19/01/2018 – El 18 de enero de 2016 se produjo el "nacimiento" de ChessBase India. Desde entonces ha estado promocionando el ajedrez en el subcontinente de manera constante, entusiasta e inmejorable. Sagar Shah y su esposa Amruta Mokal junto con su equipo han estado viajando, haciendo reportajes, entrevistando personajes, estableciendo contactos, haciendo publicidad, dando clases, visitando y jugando torneos, etc. Tienen seguidores en todo el mundo, también entre los ajedrecistas hispanohablantes. ChessBase India: los grandes promotores del ajedrez en India
En 2013 se disputó el duelo por el Campeonato del Mundo entre Vishy Anand y Magnus Carlsen en Madrás (India) Yo estuve allí durante todo el acontecimiento debido a un torneo que se disputaba en paralelo. Únicamente tuve la posibilidad de acercarme al duelo un día. Fue la importante quinta partida del duelo y Vishy Anand perdió. Estaba a punto de marcharme cuando mi amigo Niklesh Jain me paró y me comentó que Frederic Friedel, de ChessBase acababa de llegar al hotel.
"Este hombre es Frederic Friedel y es el cofundador y editor jefe de la web con noticias en inglés de la empresa ChessBase".
Me acerqué a Frederic para saludarle y para comentarle que tenía un blog de ajedrez. Frederic en su manera incomparable me preguntó:
"¿Cuál es tu valoración Elo?"
Le respondí: "2372 puntos Elo".
"Pues entonces eres lo suficientemente inteligente como para memorizar mi dirección de correo electrónico. ¡Escríbeme cuando tengas algún contenido que pueda ser interesante para publicar en nuestra página de noticias de ChessBase!"
Ese fue el comienzo de todo.

"Para mí, llevar y fomentar ChessBase India es comparable a criar un niño. Dejas aparte todas las demás cosas y es lo que tiene la prioridad absoluta. La razón es simple: conocemos el mundo del ajedrez lo suficiente para ser conscientes de cuáles son las cosas que aún le faltan a ese deporte. ChessBase India es nuestra herramienta para llenar esos vacíos. Actualmente he puesto en espera mi meta de convertirme en gran maestro de ajedrez (aunque espero poder serlo algún día, no obstante).
