Stefansson gana el Abierto de Teplice
En octubre de 1922 se llevó a cabo el Schachkongress en el balneario de Teplitz-Schönau (Checoslovaquia) En aquel entonces fueron invitados 14 maestros de ajedrez para participar en este torneo de liga. A pesar de la ausencia del entonces Campeón del Mundo, José Raúl Capablanca, Emanuel Lasker y Alexander Alekhine, el torneo fue extraordinariamente fuerte, gracias también a la participación de maestros como Akiba Rubinstein, Siegbert Tarrasch, Rudolph Spielmann y Savielly Tartakower. Como representantes de Checoslovaquia participaron Richard Réti y Karel Treybal. Reti, el hipermoderno y Spielmann, el romantico empataron en el primer puesto con 9 puntos en 13 rondas.
