03/10/2001 – La lista de los 128 clasificados para el mundial de la FIDE, cuyas eliminatorias empezarán a disputarse a partir del próximo 27 de noviembre en Moscú, incluye a Kasparov, Kramnik y Karpov, pero estos parece que tienen previsto otro compromiso en la misma ciudad sobre esas fechas, según informaron ITAR-TASS y Newsweek ¡Sería muy lamentable que no jugasen el mundial por falta de comunicación! Korchnoi, Radjabov (ambos por invitación) y Judit Polgar (clasificada en el europeo) son otros de los nombres que tienen especial significación en la lista.
