13/11/2004 – El Campeón del Mundo de Ajedrez Clásico, Vladimir Kramnik recientemente expresó sus dudas sobre el rumbo actual del proceso de reunificación y también se retiró de la final del Campeonato de Rusia por motivos de salud. Por todo ello ha recibido muchas críticas tanto en la prensa como entre los aficionados. En una nota de prensa Kramnik explica su posición.
