03/01/2003 – El día de Año Nuevo la FIDE publicó las nuevas listas de ELO. Judit Polgar es la primera mujer que ha alcanzado el “límite mágico” de 2700. La húngara ocupa el rango 13 de la lista. Garry Kasparov encabeza con un ELO de 2847. Los mejores jugadores españoles son Alexei Shirov (9.) con 2723 ELO y Paco Vallejo Pons (59.) con 2629 ELO.
