21/10/2002 – Cada tres meses la FIDE publica la clasificación de jugadores calculada según la fórmula desarrollada hace tiempo por el profesor Arpad Elo. Dicha fórmula ha servido bastante bien al mundo del ajedrez durante largo tiempo. Sin embargo, el estadístico Jeff Sonas cree que ha llegado el momento de realizar importantes cambios en el sistema.
