A mediados de julio hubo una Fiesta de Ajedrez en la plaza Trafalgar Square con una actuación de ajedrez viviente, representando la pieza de Alicia en el País de las Maravillas, por Lewis Caroll. El parque "Holland Park" está ubicado al oeste del parque Hyde Park, en el barrio londinense de Kensington. Se trata de una zona residencial un poco regia, con villas de la edad Victoriana y centros comerciales de lujo. Por lot anto, el parque Holland Park lleva el apodo de "Millionaires Row". Por esa zona vive mucha gente famosa como, por ejemplo, director y productor de cine y música, Simon Cowell, David y Victoria Beckham, Robbie Williams, Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) y Elton John.
Al norte del Holland Park se encuentra la ruina de la casa Holland House. Fue una de las primeras casas construidas en Kensington y fue destruida por los ataques con bombas durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. La parte sur del parque sirve para actividades deportivas. Hay un campo de cricket y también el tablero gigante para jugar al ajedrez al aire libre. Fue instalado hace diez años por Jason Kochak. Kouchak organizó también la iniciativa de los "Amigos del Ajedrez en el Holland Park".

Wow in White' Queen of Power and Grace
A mediados de julio se celebró una Fiesta del Ajedrez en la plaza Trafalgar Square, en Londres, organizada por la fundación de ajedrez londinense "Chess in Schools and Communities".
Uno de los puntos culminantes fue la representación de ajedrez viviente de "Alicia en el País de las Maravillas" por Lewis Carrol. Acudieron unos 6.000 espectadores a la fiesta.
