25/09/2004 – A imagen y semejanza del ATP-Tour en el tenis, la Association of Chess Professionals (ACP) ha iniciado una clasificación en función de los resultados obtenidos durante el ciclo anual de torneos, de cuya lista final saldrán los que disputarán el Masters de la ACP. Cada jugador recibe una puntuación en función de la clasificación obtenida en un torneo y de la categoría de éste. Para tomar parte en el Masters también es requisito ser miembro de la ACP. En la actualidad lidera la clasificación Anand por delante de Morozevich, Kramnik, Short, Sasikiran y Grischuk.
