Borja Sanmartín en un taller de ajedrez de ASPANOA
El maestro Azuaga y la voz del tablero, Roberto López, hablan esta semana con Borja Sanmartín, un joven monitor de ajedrez que enseña a jugar (y a divertirse) a los niños con cáncer de la planta de oncología del Hospital Infantil Miguel Servet del Gobierno de Aragón.
Borja participa además como voluntario en la asociación ASPANOA, Asociación de Padres de Niños con Cáncer de Aragón, entidad que realiza una labor extraordinaria y que atiende a las familias de niños y adolescentes enfermos desde hace ya 25 años.
Greco "El Calabrés"
Tras esta preciosa aplicación social y terapéutica del noble juego, podremos saber un poco más de la vida y obra del jugador italiano Greco (1600-1634 aprox.), más conocido como “El Calabrés“. Apasionante historia la suya, no se la pierdan. ¿Sabías que Greco fue asaltado por unos bandidos mientras cruzaba el canal de la Mancha camino de Londres? Su estilo “rabioso” era muy adelantado para la época y siempre jugaba buscando cómo llegar del modo más violento al rey enemigo. Gracias a estos conocimientos tácticos tan extraordinarios, hoy podemos seguir disfrutando de muchas de sus partidas.
Greco fue el primer jugador en la historia del ajedrez que realizó el archiconocido mate de la coz, que es aquel que damos con un salto de caballo cuando el rey enemigo está encerrado por sus propias piezas. Lo hizo allá por el año 1620 antes un rival desconocido.

Colaboración con la Fundación Kasparov de Ajedrez
La Asociación Ajedrez Social de Andalucía y la Fundación Kasparov de Ajedrez para Iberoamérica han firmado un acuerdo de colaboración que perseguirá el fomento y el impulso del ajedrez como herramienta educativa y como recurso eficaz de transformación social, considerando para ello aquellas aplicaciones sociales y terapéuticas que se pueden ejecutar a través del noble juego.
Se trata, como decimos, de una magnífica noticia, toda vez que ambas instituciones, en el desarrollo de sus acciones estatutarias, comparten una misma filosofía y un objetivo común: acercar el ajedrez a las escuelas, así como a todos los colectivos a los que sea posible.
En próximas fechas iremos dando más detalles de este prometedor acuerdo.
