Primer Torneo Juvenil por la Paz
Veintiún jóvenes ajedrecistas se dieron cita en el Primer Torneo Juvenil por la Paz con motivo de la II Conferencia Global de las Religiones
del Mundo en el Palacio de Congresos de Montréal (Canadá). En esta ocasión los jugadores tuvieron el placer de saludar al
XIV dalái
lama.

Los ajedrecistas Matthieu Johnson-Constantin, Xavier St-Cyr y Zachary Saine con las
"khatas", unas bufandas blancas de seda que recibieron del dalái lama como gesto de buena fe y respeto
"Su santidad, serenidad y devoción son encantadores", comentan los organizadores del torneo. En la foto de arriba, el
dalái lama está bendiciendo a Isaac Tomatuk (Wabannutao Eeyou School) y a Maïli Jade Ouellet (École Préville) en el escenario de la II Conferencia Global de las Religiones
del Mundo.
El XIV dalái lama Tenzin Gyatso (abreviado de Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso), nació en Lhamo Dondrub, el 6 de julio de 1935. En 1989 el
dalái lama recibió el Premio Nobel de la Paz. Por este hecho adquirió mayor notoriedad mundial. Hay más información en
