30/03/2002 – En la bonita ciudad cantábrica se disputó entre el 23 y el 30 de marzo el XXV Open Internacional. El triunfo fue para el chino Shao Teng Yu, con 7'5 puntos. Korneev, Lezcano, Zhang y Komljenovic completaron el quinteto de cabeza. El día 30 se disputó, además, el I Memorial Jaan Eslon de ajedrez activo. El triunfo se lo adjudicó el GM Félix Izeta, seguido del argelino Aimen Rizouk. Pueden acceder a la información completa de ambos acontecimientos por medio de la Federación Guipuzcoana de Ajedrez.
