El formato cuenta con dos grupos compuestos por ocho jugadores cada uno. El grupo de ocho jugadores compite entre sí en un sistema de eliminación directa. El formato de doble eliminación garantiza una segunda oportunidad en la parte superior para cualquier jugador que pierda un enfrentamiento.
Los participantes juegan un encuentro clásico a dos partidas, seguido de desempates rápidos si es necesario. Los ganadores avanzan en el Grupo del Campeonato, mientras que aquellos que pierden su partida continúan jugando ajedrez rápido en el Grupo de Eliminación. Cualquier jugador que pierda su partida en el Grupo de Eliminación queda eliminado del torneo.
El control de tiempo clásico será de 90 minutos por partida más incrementos de 30 segundos desde la primera jugada (G/90+30).
El control de tiempo rápido será de 15 minutos por partida más incrementos de 10 segundos desde la primera jugada (G/15+10).
El control de tiempo en los desempates será de 3 minutos por partida más incrementos de 2 segundos desde la primera jugada (G/3+2).
En el Grupo del Campeonato, cada enfrentamiento constará de dos partidas clásicas.
En el Grupo de Eliminación, cada enfrentamiento constará de cuatro partidas rápidas.
En los desempates, los jugadores disputarán un encuentro a dos partidas de blitz. Si el encuentro termina en empate, se repetirá el proceso hasta determinar un ganador.
