En plan jugada sorpresa, el Campeón del Mundo Viswanathan Anand anunció quiénes son los grandes maestros que forman parte de su equipo durante el Campeonato del Mundo. Lo desveló en contestación a la pregunta de Ashok Venugopal de "New Indian Express" .

Anand en cambio sí lo hizo, comentando que sus asistentes van a ser Krishnan Sasikiran, Sandipan Chanda, Peter Leko (Hungría), y Radoslaw Wojtaszek (Polonia). Este último ha trabajado con Anand en otras ocasiones. Leko compitió por el título mundial contra Kramnik hace unos años, pero empató el duelo. Anand se ha entrenado en Alemania para este duelo.
"Estoy muy feliz de que el duelo por el Campeonato se lleve a cabo en Madrás. Estoy muy agradecido a la presidenta Jayalalithaa, sin ella este duelo no se habría disputado aquí. Realmente espero con ilusión poder jugar este acontecimiento en mi patria chica", comentó Anand". "Todo va bien hasta ahora. Estoy esperando el comienzo del duelo con ilusión", comentó Carlsen. El noruego se mostró un poco a la defensiva y cauteloso.
"El hecho de que el duelo se dispute en el mismo hotel en el que se alojan ambos jugadores va a ahorrar mucho tiempo porque los ajedrecistas no tienen que desplazarse por el tráfico de la ciudad", comentó Ananad y agregó que eso sí que puede ser un factor importante en los duelos con "tolerancia cero" en cuanto a la comparecencia de los jugadores para disputar la partida.
