20/01/2003 – Tres jugadoras llegaron al final empatadas en la cabeza del campeonato. La desvalida Anna Hahn, de 26 años, nacida en Letonia (¡Pleno para los oriundos del país báltico!) y actualmente residente en Jersey City, causó un trastorno en el playoff venciendo a las anteriores campeonas Jennifer Shahade e Irina Krush. La victoria le permitió acceder al premio record de 12.500 USD. Junto al ajedrez, a Anna le gusta la música, el baile, el tenis y, aunque resulte difícil de creer, el kickboxing.
