Aravindh Chithambaram y Nihal Sarin terminaron en primer lugar compartido con 32/45 puntos cada uno —se usó el sistema de puntuación del fútbol— pero Aravindh consiguió un mayor número de victorias, lo que le otorgó la victoria en el torneo. Nihal Sarin iguala en la punta
El MPL Indian Chess Tour, dotado con 100.000 dólares, es una serie de cuatro torneos de 16 jugadores en los que los ganadores, y los cuatro primeros según la clasificación del Tour, se clasifican para una final eliminatoria de 8 jugadores. El ganador de cada evento también obtiene una plaza en el Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. Los jugadores disponen de 15 minutos para todas sus jugadas, más un incremento de 10 segundos. Tras una actuación increíble en la tercera jornada de la competición, en la que ganó sus cuatro partidas, Aravindh Chithambaram se hizo con el liderato del segundo torneo del MPL Indian Chess Tour. Dos victorias más y un empate el domingo fueron suficientes para hacerse con la victoria, pues el joven de 22 años culminó el torneo con un mejor desempate que Nihal Sarin, quien también sumó 32/42 puntos.
Vishy Anand, nacido en 1969, pasa por ser “la cabeza más rápida del planeta“ y es el actual Campeón del Mundo. Los expertos dicen que es uno de los más grandes talentos naturales de la historia del ajedrez. Los expertos GM Yannick Pelletier, GM Mihail Marin, GM Karsten Müller y MI Oliver Reeh explican las partidas de Vishy Anand y nos enseñan, como se pueden armar las partidas desde un punto de vista estratégico para presionar sobre el oponente y para jugar los finales con la técnica apropiada para ganar la partida.
Mientras Nihal terminó el torneo invicto, Aravindh quien consiguió diez victorias, una más que su joven compatriota. En realidad, Aravindh consiguió 11 victorias, pero el retiro de Gukesh, por problemas con su conexión a Internet, anuló esa victoria. El GM Harsha Bharathakoti y el FM Aradhya Garg fueron los dos únicos jugadores que lograron vencer al ganador del evento.
Esta victoria le valió a Aravindh una plaza en la siguiente prueba del Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. También se clasificó para la fase final del Tour, que tendrá lugar en noviembre.
Leon Luke Mendonca y Raunak Sadhwani obtuvieron 26 puntos cada uno y terminaron en tercer y cuarto lugar, respectivamente.
En la ronda 13, Aravindh consiguió su quinta victoria consecutiva (¡de seis!) al superar a Leon Mondanca con las piezas blancas.
Siempre hay dos enfoques para enfrentar cualquier posición: o dejas que tu oponente haga las cosas que quiere o tomas las riendas y haces las cosas que tú quieres. En resumen, tomas el control. Aravindh hizo exactamente eso con 28.Cexf3!, una jugada sorprendent.
Las blancas entregaron dos piezas menores por una torre, pero también obtuvieron tres peones de ventaja. Además, los alfiles negros no tienen cómo desplegar su verdadero potencial en esta posición. Aravindh ganó la partida cómodamente.
