Rozentalis y Díaz comandan la clasificación

El GM lituano Eduardas Rozentalis y el MI argentino Nahuel Díaz son los líderes del III Magistral Ciudad de Asunción, “Copa Roggio”, que se está celebrando en los salones de La Pérgola Jardín Restaurant, de Asunción, Paraguay.
Como en la ronda anterior, Zambrana sacrificó un caballo, esta vez en d5, frente a Mareco, en una Defensa Siciliana Variante Najdorf; Fritz 12 era algo escéptico y la situación no era clara, pero las blancas permitieron que las negras se consolidasen, el juego se fue simplificando y Mareco se impuso.
Kropff vs. Díaz fue una India del Rey clásica con el desarrollo del Cb8 por d7, las blancas quedaron mejor situadas tras la apertura del centro, la posición de Díaz se tornó dudosa y las tablas finales fueron un éxito para las negras.
Rozentalis vs. Bachmann fue una tranquila Variante Clásica de la apertura Española, las blancas realizaron un imprudente avance central que propició un sacrificio de calidad de Bachmann, quien pasó a comandar las acciones, pero tras cometer un error, la posición volvió a complicarse; Bachmann rechazó el empate ofrecido por Rozentalis en una decisión ambiciosa pero equivocada, y el GM lituano logró una importante victoria.
Morovic se defendió con la Defensa Pirc ante Cubas, quien logró cierta presión sobre la posición negra, pero una combinación equivocada de entrega de calidad le llevó a la derrota al omitir una jugada intermedia decisiva de Morovic.
Rodríguez jugó una línea cerrada ante la Defensa Siciliana de Delgado, las negras lograron ventaja, pero Rodríguez se defendió con tenacidad y ganó tras una complicada lucha; con este resultado el cubano-colombiano es el sorprendente colista del torneo.
