Bakú R10: diluvio y seis empates en el Grand Prix de la FIDE

03/05/2008 – Estaba lloviendo a cántaros y seis de las partidas concluyeron en tablas. Karjakin estuvo a punto de derrotar a Gashimov con piezas negras y Peter Svidler, jugando con blancas, se quedó con dos peones de menos en su partida contra Bacrot, pero en ambos casos hubo empate. El único triunfo de la ronda, además jugando con negras, fue para Ivan Cheparinov, que prosigue su remontada, sobre Teimour Radjabov. En la cima de la clasficación no hubo cambios: Grischuk sigue en cabeza con 6,5/10, seguido por Wang Yue y Gashimov a medio punto de distancia. Ronda 10...

I Grand Prix de la FIDE en Bakú

El primer torneo del Grand Prix FIDE se está desarrollando en Bakú (Azerbaijan), del 20 de abril al 6 de mayo de 2008. Hay 13 rondas y dos días de descanso (26 de abril y 1 de mayo) La prueba está organizada por Global Chess y forma parte de la serie de seis torneos que se disputarán a lo largo de dos años (2008-2009) Veintiún ajedrecistas del más alto nivel han sido seleccionados para competir en esos torneos y cada jugador se ha comprometido contractualmente a participar en cuatro de ellos. El ganador de las series del Grand Prix a finales de 2009 jugará contra el vencedor de la Copa del Mundo que se dispute en 2009 en un encuentro a ocho partidas, para decidir el retador del Campeón del Mundo, en un encuentro que se disputará en el tercer trimestre de 2010.
