31/07/2012 – Igual la séptima ronda del torneo de Biel ha sido ya la decisiva para la la victoria en el torneo, en concreto la jugada 46 de la partida entre Hao y Carlsen. Carlsen rechazó una oportunidad fácil de igualar y su oponente chino sacrificó un peón, tomó la iniciativa y se lanzó al ataque. Al hacer 46.Cdb2 pasó por alto un golpe táctico en el final de caballos, 46...Cb6 y Magnus pudo dar la vuelta a la tortilla. Se habían esfumado las opciones de ganar de Wang Hao y fue el noruego quien se alzó con el triunfo, jugando con mucha precisión. En el análisis post mortem con Klaus Bischoff, Carlsen comentó que había sido "una tremenda suerte". Las otras dos partidas concluyeron en tablas. Giri y Nakamura cambiaron muchas piezas y llegaron a un final empatado, mientras que Bologan y Bacrot saborearon las finezas estratéticas de la India de Rey. Del 22 al 29 de julio en Biel (Suiza)
El XLV Festival Internacional de Ajedrez de Biel está desarrollándose entre el 23 de julio y el 2 de agosto de 2012, con diversas actividades: Torneo Magistral (suizo, 11 rondas); Torneo Principal (suizo, 9 rondas); un torneo de partidas rápidas y otro de ajedrez relámpago, ajedrez 960, juvenil, simultáneas, tenis-ajedrez, seminarios de entrenamiento de ChessBase... El mayor interés lo acapara el Torneo Magistral Accentus, que se disputa es una competición por sistema suizo a 11 rondas. En dicho torneo compiten el defensor del título en Biel, Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Alexander Morozevich, Wang Hao, Etienne Bacrot y Anish Giri.

El ritmo de juego es de 40 movimientos en 100 minutos, a continuación 20 movimientos en 50 minutos, seguido por 15 minutos para el resto de la partida, con un incremento de 30 segundos por movimiento. Se aplica el sistema de puntuación de 3 (victoria) - 1 (tablas) - 0 (derrota). No se permiten las ofertas de tablas antes del movimiento 30.

El fuerte deseo de ganar la partida y una pequeña dosis de fortuna han hecho que Magnus Carlsen se haya podido colocar en la cima de la clasificación del torneo Accentus en Biel. En la séptima ronda se
enfrentó directamente con el hasta entonces líder, el chino Wang Hao y lo venció con negras. También es cierto que hasta el domingo Carlsen
tenía la desventaja de haber disputado una partida menos que los demás, pero tras vencer a Bologan en dicha partida aplazada, ahora va viento en popa.

Anish Giri hizo sudar la gota gorda a Hikaru Nakamura al plantear una Semieslava y él estaba mejor preparado. Sin embargo, el estadounidense devolvió el golpe y tomó medidas muy enérgicas, pero aún así tuvo que superar algunas dificultades antes de poder firmar las tablas.
