En el encuentro en la cima entre Giri y Carlsen, ya después de la apertura hubo piezas en peligro y motivos tácticos, pero a lo largo de la partida la posición se fue igualando y concluyó en tablas. El cenizo de la ronda nuevamente resultó ser Bacrot. Hoy perdió contra Nakamura por un desliz en una partida que antes estaba igualada como mínimo. Otro drama ocurrió en la entre Bologan (en la foto) y Hao. Victor condujo la partida hacia una posición de doble filo que le brindó ventaja estratégica. Al final ganó porque pudo refutar el contraataque de Wang Hao realizando sus cálculos con mucha precisión. A falta de la última ronda, Carlsen es líder en solitario con 17 puntos. A continuación van Wang Hao y Anish Giri, con 16. Carlsen jugará con blancas contra Bacrot y depende de si mismo. Si no gana, el resultado de Hao - Giri será el que decida el triunfo en Biel 2012. El XLV Festival Internacional de Ajedrez de Biel está desarrollándose entre el 23 de julio y el 2 de agosto de 2012, con diversas actividades: Torneo Magistral (suizo, 11 rondas); Torneo Principal (suizo, 9 rondas); un torneo de partidas rápidas y otro de ajedrez relámpago, ajedrez 960, juvenil, simultáneas, tenis-ajedrez, seminarios de entrenamiento de ChessBase... El mayor interés lo acapara el Torneo Magistral Accentus, que se disputa es una competición por sistema suizo a 11 rondas. En dicho torneo compiten el defensor del título en Biel, Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Alexander Morozevich, Wang Hao, Etienne Bacrot y Anish Giri.

El ritmo de juego es de 40 movimientos en 100 minutos, a continuación 20 movimientos en 50 minutos, seguido por 15 minutos para el resto de la partida, con un incremento de 30 segundos por movimiento.
