Participan ocho jugadores en un torneo con una mezcla de competiciones de ajedrez clásico, rápido y relámpago. El torneo magistral MTO cuenta con un grupo de participantes muy fuerte: participan 27 grandes maestros, de los cuales doce tienen valoracioens Elo superiores a los 2600 puntos. Torneo MTO
Los favoritos del torneo MTO son: GM Salem Saleh (Emirates Árabes Unidos, Elo 2682), GM Pavel Eljanov (Ucrania, Elo 2671) y GM Alexander Donchenko (Alemania, Elo 2652). Cabe destacar también la participación del niño prodigio indio Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa (Elo 2608, 15 años). Los organizadores se alegran también de la alta cantidad de participantes femeninas: participarán 29 mujeres. En total participarán 73 ajedrecistas de 18 países.
El torneo se disputará a nueve rondas, bolsa de premios 39.000 francos suizos.
