16/07/2004 – Según informa en castellano The Associated Press, Fisher (buscado por las autoridades estadounidense al participar en un duelo contra Spassky en Yugoslavia en 1992 y violar las sanciones internacionales impuestas en esa época contra el país balcánico) fue detenido el martes en el Aeropuerto Internacional Narita de Tokio cuando trataba de salir de Japón rumbo a Filipinas.
