El primer torneo de la nueva serie de torneos el Grand Prix de la FIDE por sistema eliminatorio. Organizador: World Chess. Se enfrentarán 16 jugadores en Moscú. La bolsa de premios asciende a €130.000. El torneo sirve para coleccionar puntos para clasificarse para el Torneo de Candidatos 2020 del circuito por el Campeonato del Mundo de Ajedrez Absoluto. prize fund plus qualify points for the 2020 Candidates Tournament.

Del 30 de mayo al 17 de junio: Torneo de Candidatas por el Campeonato del Mundo Femenino de FIDE
El Torneo de Candidatas es el torneo que sirve para determinar a la próxima retadora a la Campeona del Mundo Femenina de Ajedrez, Ju Wenjun. El lugar del encuentro del torneo será Kazán, Rusia.
La número uno del mundo, Hou Yifan, fue invitada pero rechazó la invitación. Las ocho participantes del torneo de liga a doble vuelta (14 rondas) son: Anna y Mariya Muzychuk, Kateryna Lagno, Alexandra Kosteniuk, Tan Zhongyi, Nana Dzagnidze , Valentina Gunina y Aleksandra Goryachkina.
