11/08/2001 – La ciudad colombiana acoge, entre el 9 y el 20 de agosto, al sustituto de los Campeonatos Panamericanos, con 11 rondas y ritmo FIDE. Entre los participantes: Gulko, Leitao, Domínguez, Bruzón, Shabalov, Yermolinski, Rodríguez, Hoffman... hasta 350 jugadores de 24 paises. Además de los premios en metálico, hay en juego 7 plazas para los Campeonatos Mundiales.
