Campeonato de Gran Bretaña 2011
El XCVIII Campeonato de Gran Bretaña se está celebrando entre el 25 de julio y el 6 de agosto 2001, en Sheffield (Inglaterra). Los favoritos según el escalafón Elo son: Michael Adams, Nigel Short, David Howell y Gawain Jones. Es el campeonato nacional más fuerte de Gran Bretaña de la historia. Aparte del torneo magistral también se están disputando los campeonatos por categorías de fuerza (sub-2000, sub-1800, sub-1400) y también por categorías de edad: veteranos, sub-16, sub-14, sub-13, sub-12, sub-11, sub-10, sub-9 y sub-8. Están programados además los torneos abiertos "Major Open" y "Five Day Open", torneos de fin de semana y torneos de ajedrez rápido.

Las partidas del campeonato son sesiones de siete horas: 100 minutos para 40 movimientos, a continuación 50 minutos para 20 movimientos y luego 15 minutos para el resto de la partida, con un incremento de 30 segundos a partir del primer movimiento. Las partidas comienzan a las 14:15 hora británica (15:15 CEST).
