El grupo de más de 700 participantes puede presumir de contar con más de 40 jugadores titulados, entre ellos el defensor del título, el GM inglés Nigel Short. Promete ser un interesante torneo, tanto en lo que se refiere al ajedrez, como a la espectacularidad de la flora y la fauna circundantes. Campeonato de Ajedrez de la Commonwealth 2011

La participación rompe todos los récords del campeonato: más de 700 jugadores aficionados (y fanáticos), se están dando cita en el "Emperors Palace Hotel Casino and Convention Centre", en Ekurhuleni
(Sudáfrica) para albergar el Campeonato de la Commonwealth y los Campeonatos Sudafricanos de Ajedrez 2011. Participan más de 40 jugadores titulados y uno de ellos es el campeón, el GM inglés Nigel
Short. Hay también un contingente de jugadores indios muy fuertes, entre ellos
el ex campeón juvenil Abhijeet Gupta y la MI Harika Dronovalli.
