Alexandra Kosteniuk (foto) parecía que iba a anotarse el 2-0 y de forma similar todos pensaban que Peter Svidler se iba a poner en franquía frente a su joven oponente Ponomariov. Pero ambos patinaron y Alexandra incluso se dejó el punto entero, mientras que Peter firmó tablas en la jugada 45. Anand e Ivanchuk firmaron la paz en 18 jugadas.
