La campeona mundial femenina, Ju Wenjun, lucha por defender su título contra su compatriota Lei Tingjie. La competición comienza el 5 de julio con la primera partida.

Formato e información general
El match tendrá lugar en dos ciudades chinas, de donde procede cada una de las contendientes. La primera parte del encuentro se celebrará en Shanghai, mientras que la segunda tendrá lugar en Chongqing.
El match constará de 12 partidas de ajedrez clásico. Las jugadoras dispondrán de 90 minutos para los primeros 40 movimientos, seguidos de 30 minutos para el resto de la partida, más un incremento de 30 segundos por movimiento a partir de la primera jugada.
Las jugadoras no podrán ofrecer tablas antes de llegar a la jugada 41.
En caso de empate, los siguientes desempates se llevarán a cabo:
Cuatro partidas con un control de tiempo de 25 minutos+10 segundos
Dos partidas con un control de tiempo de 5+3
Dos partidas más con un control de tiempo de 5+3
Una partida a la vez, con un control de tiempo de 3+2, hasta que una de las jugadoras logre la victoria
El fondo de premios del evento es de 500.000 euros, de los que 300.000 se entregarán a la ganadora y los 200.000 restantes a la subcampeona. Si el resultado del match se decide por desempates, la ganadora se llevará 275.000 euros, mientras que la subcampeona recibirá 225.000 euros.
