Del 6 al 15 de agosto de 2025, el Hyatt Regency de Chennai es la sede de la tercera edición del Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters, un torneo que se ha consolidado como una cita importante en el calendario internacional de ajedrez. El evento contará con dos secciones —Masters y Challengers—, ambas en formato todos contra todos con diez participantes. Además de un importante fondo de premios, el torneo otorga puntos para el FIDE Circuit, lo que lo convierte en una oportunidad clave para quienes aspiran a participar en el Torneo de Candidatos 2026.
En la sección Masters, el gran maestro indio Arjun Erigaisi encabeza una nómina de lujo que incluye figuras como Anish Giri y Vincent Keymer, así como al olímpico Vidit Gujrathi. A ellos se suman jóvenes promesas como Nihal Sarin y Pranav Venkatesh, además del contingente estadounidense representado por Ray Robson y Awonder Liang. El GM Karthikeyan Murali completa la lista tras reemplazar a última hora a Vladimir Fedoseev.
En la sección Challengers, la atención se centrará en la nueva generación del ajedrez indio que busca dar el salto a la élite. Jugadores como Abhimanyu Puranik, Aryan Chopra, Leon Luke Mendonca y Pranesh M dan una lucha intensa por el título y un posible puesto en la edición Masters del próximo año.
Se emplea un control de tiempo clásico de 90 minutos para toda la partida más 30 segundos de incremento desde la primera jugada.
