El ajedrez 960 es una variante del ajedrez creada por Bobby Fischer a finales de la década de los 90 en la que las piezas de la primera fila se colocan de forma aleatoria, representando 960 el número de posiciones iniciales posibles. Los jugadores no conocerán el orden de las piezas hasta poco antes del comienzo de cada ronda y tendrán que confiar en su creatividad en una serie de partidas rápidas.
Se jugarán tres rondas diarias desde el miércoles hasta el viernes. El control de tiempo es de 20 minutos para toda la partida más un incremento de 5 segundos desde el primer movimiento.
