Hasta tres jugadores obtendrán plaza en la EWC al finalizar en los primeros puestos, sin que se asignen plazas adicionales si esas posiciones las ocupan jugadores ya clasificados. Las plazas restantes para la Esports World Cup se determinan a través de la clasificación del Champions Chess Tour.
Participa un grupo de 16 jugadores, con destacados grandes maestros como Magnus Carlsen, Javokhir Sindarov, Vincent Keymer, Nodirbek Abdusattorov y Arjun Erigaisi.
El torneo adopta un formato por doble eliminación. Los encuentros se juegan con un control de tiempo rápido de 10 minutos sin incremento.
En el cuadro de ganadores, los matches constan de cuatro partidas.
