14/08/2017 – El sábado se llevó a cabo la ceremonia de clausura de la Copa Sinquefield, celebrando el triunfo de la estrella francesa Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. No obstante, como siempre: "después del torneo es antes del torneo". Se han marchado para casa Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Magnus Carlsen, Wesley So y Peter Svidler, pero han llegado otros 4 para apuntarse al plantel de la 4ª prueba del Grand Chess Tour, de ajedrez rápido y relámpago. El ganador del torneo, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave es uno de los cuatro jugadores (junto con Magnus Carlsen, Wesley So y Peter Svidler) que dicen au revoir a San Luis para regresar a casa.

Ahora cuatro nuevos jugadores se apuntan al espectáculo para disputar la cuarta prueba del Grand Chess Tour de Ajedrez Rápido y Relámpago.

Está claro que lo más interesante es el hecho de que Garry Kasparov se vuelva a incorporar al ajedrez de competición (aunque sí ha tenido algunas actuaciones frente al tablero también previamente). Ya se ha hecho visible y notable en la séptima ronda de la Copa Sinquefield, cuando se unió al equipo de comentaristas:

También han llegado los especialistas en ajedrez relámpago, Le Quang Liem y Leinier Domínguez Perez y, así mismo, el número uno de la República Checa David Navara. Este último acaba de tener un torneo un poco desalentador en Biel donde únicamente había logrado dos victorias, tres derrotas y cuatro tablas. Navara no participó en el último Campeonato del Mundo de Ajedrez Rápido y Relámpago en Doha y su valoración FIDE en la modalidad de partidas rápidas coincide con su valoración Elo en el ajedrez clásico, que es 2737.
Ayer por la noche, previmente a la ceremonia inaugural, los jugadores tuvieron una sesión de autógrafos en el restaurante Kingside Diner, que está conectado directamente con el Chess Club and Scholastic Center.
