20/02/2002 – La cadena norteamericana de comida rápida Burger King ha recompensado al GM Maurice Ashley como "Héroe del día". Ashley fue el primer afro-americano en conseguir el título de Gran Maestro, en 1999. Ahora recibe este reconocimiento por su labor como director de programas de ajedrez en una organización sin ánimo de lucro dedicada a la infancia y que opera en el conflictivo barrio de Harlem.
