El 19 de abril, tras la tercera ronda, se disputaron los campeonatos en la modalidad de ajedrez relámpago. El premio para el ganador era de 1500 USD. Control de tiempo: 3 minutos más 2 segundos de incremento por movimiento.
Pentala Harikrishna de India, que tiene 2726 puntos Elo y es el cuarto mejor jugador de Asia por detrás de Anand, Wang Hao y Wesley So, era el claro favorito.
La partida crucial
Aunque no tenga los movimientos de la partida, al mirar el vídeo he conseguido armar la posición final en la cual el jugador vietnamita se rindió ante Yu:
Yu, jugando con negras habrá movido su torre a c8 y surge una posición con clavada típica tal de los libros de táctica
Por lo tanto, Yu fue capaz de ganar el torneo con 7,5/9 puntos y Pentala Harikrishna se llevó la medalla de plata con 7/9 puntos. El iraní Ghaem Maghami ganóel bronce.
En la sección femenina del torneo de ajedrez relámpago, la china Tan Zhogyi demostró su clase al sumar 8/9 puntos y ganó con 1,5 puntos de ventaja. En el segundo puesto se ubicó Harika Dronavalli. La medalla de bronce deparó una sorpresa, pues la consiguió una niña de Kazajistán: Abdumalik Zhansaya.
