12/10/2002 – Se está disputando en la ciudad india de Hyderabad (Foto: Charminar, construido en 1591) entre el 10 y el 20 de octubre. La segunda ronda ha deparado dos sorpresas: en el grupo C Vishy Anand perdió con Krishnan Sasikiran y en el D el joven Shekhar Ganguly Surya dio cuenta de Alexander Morozevich. La Copa del Mundo se disputa por un sistema mixto. Hay una fase previa con cuatro grupos que se juega por el sistema de liga y luego, los clasificados pasan a un torneo por KO.
